Education/ Awareness
The Concussion Awareness Program offers educational presentations to other parties within the province such as athletes, students, coaches, referees, and parents. We emphasize the importance of safe/ fair play and that each party should be prepared for if a concussion injury was to occur to an individual. Several topics are discussed such as recognition and detection, signs and symptoms of a concussion, treatment, return to play protocols, red flags, and second impact syndrome. The topic of concussions is researched widely, branching off to specific areas of focus. Showing that the ongoing and updated new research to the public helps show the importance of how severe the topic of concussions can be and enhance the care needed for proper recovery.
